The Fred J. Taylor Roach Rod. 12' 2-piece + detachable handle hollow and solid split cane rod c1993

This rod has rarely if ever been used and we have over-varnished it to bring it up to our current standard of finish.  It is therefore in better than original condition and is an exceptionally fine example of the model.

We made this rod with the endorsement of F. J. Taylor (a lifelong friend of the Barders).  Originally intended for traditional styles of roach fishing, this rod has since found many fans who find it very effective and versatile for other applications.  Aside from being great for big roach, we can very strongly recommend it for float fishing and laying on for chub, perch, tench and bream.  It has a lovely progressive action, is well balanced and manageable for its length, and has very useful reach.

Specifications
This rod was ordered with a 26½ " handle instead of the original 32" version, hence the 12' overall rod length.  In our opinion, this is an improvement.
The compound taper tip section is made from solid split cane, the middle from hollow-built split cane and the detachable handle from hollow-built split cane.
The 26½" cork handle has an elegant elongated 'onion' shaped top and alloy fittings throughout.
The butt cap is fitted with a rubber button.
The blued brass splint end suction ferrules are a snug fit and have their hardwood and cork stoppers.
The butt and tip rings are Amberfin - the intermediates are elegant, lightweight hard chrome plated stainless steel stand-off.
Ring, ferrule and keeper ring whippings are transparent Burgundy silk.
The Indian ink inscription reads: Fred J. Taylor Roach Rod Hand Made by Edward Barder in 1993.
The rod is supplied with its original bag.
This rod is ideally suited to 3 - 5 pound breaking strain reel lines.

Price: £1,400
