8'6" 2-piece 2-top #5 fly rod and leather case in outstanding 98%+ of new condition c2001

This rod was made in 2001 and is in outstanding condition, requiring a highly trained eye and a magnifying glass to detect any sign that it isn't new.

The reel seat metal work is blued nickel silver with an exceptionally well figured olive wood spacer.  The Ferrules are nickel silver, as is the frame of the butt ring, which has a carbide centre.  The snake guides were made by the late Tom Moran and the tip rings are traditional hayfork pattern.  All whippings are transparent varnish impregnated Pearsall's silk.  The handle is the very best Flor grade cork.

The bag has a stiffener to protect the tips and is tailor made from raw silk.  The case is dark tan hand stitched bridle leather, with a strong aluminum tubular lining.

The split cane is a medium caramel colour, flame tempered and of the very best quality.  It was made to a tolerance of +/- one thousandth of an inch to our 'Bernard Venables' model BV21025 pattern.

The action is very smooth and therefore capable of very accurate and delicate delivery.  The fact that the rod is a #5-weight means that it will turn over mayflies and grayling nymphs and not lose effectiveness in a stiff breeze.

This rod is a very nice example in a classic format and given its quality and exceptional condition, represents very good value indeed.

Price: £2,400

All pre-owned rods supplied by us are now issued with a specially printed and individually signed and dated certificate of ownership.
